All pupils have a role to play in keeping the school safe for those with allergies.

From an early age, pupils can learn how to protect others from allergic reactions, for example:

Hand washing

Wash hands after touching food

Question speech bubble

Tell a member of staff  if a friend is ill

No food sharing Don't share food
Yellow triangle hazard warning sign

Take allergies seriously and know they can be life threatening

Magnifying glass

Recognise symptoms of allergic reactions and respond quickly

Useful information - take note
Pupils in secondary schools should be taught to use an adrenaline autoinjector as part of first aid training. Pupils can suggest that this be offered to them as part of the curriculum by speaking to teachers or the senior management team.
