Digital exclusion and health literacy

  • Increasingly people are expected to access health information online and access health appointments such as Near Me 3 Go to website online. The pandemic has greatly accelerated this digital change. Those groups who are digitally excluded are more likely to be older, on a low income, have a disability or be less  educated and already experiencing barriers to health literacy.
  • 9 million people (16% of the UK population) cannot use the internet or a digital device by themselves.
